Our Values
November, 2022
The Marlboro Foundation believes that times of great change are also opportunities for rebirth, repair, and reimagining.
We gratefully situate ourselves in the river of generations, called to care for a particular place – a place alive with many forms of life and a rich human history. We bring ecological consciousness to our relationships with forests, ponds, streams, meadows, farms, the built environment, and fellow human beings. We honor those who have come before and those who are yet to be born.
In our collective work we strive to create a welcoming and accessible space for people with a variety of life experiences. We understand that a successful collaborative leadership model thrives on diverse perspectives and expertise, as well as ongoing self-reflection and learning.
We are committed to honestly examining structural inequities at each step of our work. This includes ensuring that our programming is accessible to those who have historically and systematically been denied access to educational, land-based, and artistic opportunities, as well as supporting curricular content that is respectful of multiple cultural and socio-economic perspectives.
We value creative symbiosis and cross-pollination with individuals, organizations, schools, and other entities. With awareness of the many interrelated challenges of our times, we choose to engage in our collective work with humility, joy, and a belief in interconnected flourishing.
